Sending "Hearts to our Troops"

Thank you for stopping by and reading this. Some of you know that I work at Michaels here in Las Vegas and one of the gals and I are getting together to have a free workshop at our store to make and send cards to our troops for Valentines Day. Since Nellis Air Force Base is located here we have made arrangements to get them there FAST! The workshop will be held on Saturday Feb. 2, 2008 from 10 AM to 5 PM and we are hoping to reach a goal of 100 cards!

We are in need of some images that are Vintage American Themed, Cupids, hearts etc. that will be appropriate to make cards for them. If you happen to have a copyright free image that you are willing to share with us it would be greatly appreciated. You can email them to me alteredartexpressions@cox.net and we will have them printed to make the cards.

Also if you want to join in the fun and don't live here and would like to make a card(s) to send please let me know and I will send you an address to where you can mail them.

Stamped images are also welcomed. If you are an owner of a stamp company and would like to donate a Valentine themed stamp to use in this workshop we would be honored and will make certain that everyone knows you contributed to this special event!

Thanks again for reading this far and if you can help in any way it will be greatly appreciated!

I forgot to mention one important thing!!!! Michaels is contributing all the card stock, papers, embellishments, glues etc that is needed for this project! WOW! Thanks Michaels!!!!

People have been responding and it gives me goose bumps! Please if you are going to make cards don't put heavy embellishments on them. Cards or postcards are fine! I need to have your cards here in Las Vegas by the 2nd of Feb so they can leave on the 4th of Feb. One of our gals husbands that is at the base here will make certain that they get there.

You can email me for the address to send your cards, contributions of images etc at alteredartexpressions@cox.net

Bless you one and all for the tremendous response!

Lori ^i^

This is an awesome thing you are doing! I would love to help and send a card. Can it be anything or does it have to be vintage?

Just so you all know that I removed Dawn's comment with her personal email so no one would spam her!

Thanks Dawn for helping out!

Hi Lori, This is so sweet of you girls to do this. My son and nephew are both in Iraq right now. They would love to know you guys are doing this. If you need any addresses of units let me know. My name is Robin Monville and I own Backyard Cards and Gifts. If you go to my website: www.backyardcards-gifts.com I have a couple of Vintage Valentine Collage Sheets. Just let me know how many you want and I'll get them mailed out to you ASAP. I also sell molds and have a few hearts you could use paperclay or model magic in. Just let me know what you want and I'll get it together for you.

I will also make some cards and mail them to you also.

I know my son's squad really appreciates this kind of thing. It shows them people really CARE!!!

Thank You,
Robin

Lori, I'm unclear as to whether the cards are TO the troops or are they FOR the soldier to SEND home to a loved one? In other words, if I send cards, do I write something inside?

Thanks for doing this!

Hey Marilyn I don't have your email address but the cards are for the troops and we will have them flown out to them from Nellis Air Force Base.

Certainly you can write something inside to them. They would love it!!!

Hey Lori. I missed out on the Christmas card operation so I would LOVE to help with this. School will have only been in session for a short time by the time these are due so I think I can manage. I echo Dawn's question, do the cards need to be vintage?

Hi Lori,

What a wonderful caring project you've started, thank you!

I'm so glad that I was able to contribute and send you a dozen vintage-themed Valentine's Day cards for our troops.

Just imagine how all the cards collected will be so appreciated by our servicepeople!! Well done, everyone!
